By the summer of 2011, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) may not be able to practice in Colorado. A law was passed earlier this year which allows a special medical committee to order a "cease and
desist" for any unlicensed practitioner in the state of Colorado. This next legislative session (early 2011) is THE time that we must pass a regulatory bill for naturopathic doctors. Such a bill will protect the livelihood of over 100 licensable NDs in Colorado and increase public access to the quality medicine we provide.

Please donate UP TO $50 per year to our Small Donor Committee by clicking the DONATE button below.  This account is the most versatile of our two political accounts, making these the funds we need the most at this time.

Colorado Needs Standards for Naturopathic Doctors

The CoAND has been working towards regulation of naturopathic doctors since submitting its first sunrise application in 1992.

The CoAND supports passage of regulations which set standards of education and training for practitioners of naturopathic medicine. Doing so will make quality naturopathic medicine available to more people in Colorado while at the same time protecting the public from incompetent practitioners.

While our association sets high standards for membership, the State of Colorado does not regulate the practice of naturopathic medicine. As a result of this lack of regulation there are no standards imposed upon individuals who use the titles naturopath, naturopathic doctor, naturopathic physician or naturopathic medical doctor; meaning anyone may use any of these titles in Colorado, regardless of their level of training.

The CoAND will continue to steadily work toward eventual regulation of NDs.  Your continued support for this effort is greatly appreciated!
